Tooth Number Two

There was lots of excitement in the Myrick house last night when P got home from Aunt Heather's house. When she gave me the giant smile I am always greeted with after work, low and behold there was the second bottom tooth!

We were all very excited & she seemed to be very proud of herself. I have to admit I was partly excited because I thought the 'funk' that she had been in the past few days would be history...however, that has not been the case so I am hoping there are more teeth showing up shortly. :)

Time Travel

They say there is no such thing as time travel but I kind of have to disagree with that. I was listening to my Ipod the other day and with each song I was instantly brought back to another time & place. It is crazy how songs can conjure up memories, feelings and even smells. I silently laughed at some of the memories and people that ran across my mind, was sad inside thinking about others and just had to smile at most.
Although sometimes I wish I could travel back in time to relive some of life, right some wrongs, or just hug friends that I can no longer hug, my musical time travel will have to do…and I’ll take it.
So come with me to the past…

“Time After Time” by Amazin’ Blue – Falling in love with Bryan. This is such a great song. If you have not heard this version you need to listen to it. Bryan & I loved this song and would listen to it over and over again.

Anything by Jimmy Buffet – Boating with Bryan & company on any given summer.

“She’s Every Woman” by Garth Brooks – This is the first song a guy dedicated to me. I was 16. He said that it fit me perfectly and that is exactly how he felt about me. I will forever think of him and that moment when I hear it.

“Candy” by Mandy Moore – Freshman year of college with my ‘high school’ girls. I would come home almost every weekend and we would all hang out. They even thought about lip singing this song for their talent show at the end of their senior year. We always joked that I would be their ‘director’. Crazy girls!

“Word of God Speak” & “I Can Only Imagine” by Mercy Me – Both of these songs remind me of Allison’s funeral. I remember hearing “I Can Only Imagine” on my way to the service. It will make me cry most days that I hear it because that car ride comes to mind every time.

“Shine” by Jennifer Knapp – It’s another Allison song. This is how she lived her life and it makes me smile.

“Gotham City” by R. Kelly – There was this crazy night involving a ‘music video’, Heather, Jen, myself and a lot of boys, stolen video cameras (not really stolen but the guys stole it from us), and a crazy truck ride that was video taped by those same boys, and this song! Hehehe…I’ll have to watch the video later just for a good laugh.

“Home” by Michael Bublé – This one is strange because it reminds me of a friend from high school that I haven’t seen for years…strange…I know.

“Yeah” by Genuine – One crazy spring break I took with my friend Tiffanie.

“ The Chronic” by Dr. Dre – Spring Break ’98, Kevney Dugan & Brad Lucas’ graduation open house. I think Jen & I sat in Kevney’s truck the entire time listening to this CD and singing it at the top of our lungs…I’m sure it was the edited version… ☺

“All 4 Love” by Color Me Badd – Sophomore year driving to Calvin for the HC basketball tournament. It was crazy bad outside, snowing like crazy…I can’t believe our parents let us drive there but whatever.

“To Make You Feel My Love” by Garth Brooks – First song that I had with a boyfriend. His idea, it was so sweet.

“The Promise” by Plus One – This entire CD reminds me of Beach week. It’s so crazy because I can smell the inside of our camper when I hear these songs. It was a very confusing week for me…. it was a blast, don’t get me wrong but I think I was in a little bit of shock that high school was over, my love life (if you can call high school romance that) was confusing at the time, so all that comes to mind when I hear this CD…I think maybe that is why I listened to it so much that week.

“Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio – Summer after 8th Grade. I think I wore this CD out. It reminds me of all my girls back in the day. We didn’t really hang out after that summer…high school will do that to a group of people.

James Taylor’s Greatest Hits – I feel in love with Bryan to this CD. We listened to this every night we were in Traverse City. I had never heard of James Taylor before then. We played it off his computer and I remember playing 20 questions while listening to it. One of my favorite memories…I learned a lot about him that night. Thanks for playing 20 questions with me baby!

“Wide Open Spaces” by The Dixie Chicks – Ahhh this song…Glen Lake 1998. Five girls piled into a 4 Runner on a rainy day with all the windows open, blaring this song driving through all the wooded ‘trails’. Oh, and don’t forget stopping every few feet to take a picture which undoubtedly wouldn’t turn out…no digital cameras! ☺

“Who I Am” by Jessica Andrews – The second song a guy said was “me”. Bryan said he thought this song fit me when we were in Traverse City. I thought that it was a definite compliment.

“I Loved Her First” by Heartland, “There is Love” by Noel Paul Stookey – Brings me back to my wedding day. I felt so beautiful that day. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Still love my dress! Tied for greatest day with Payton’s birthday.

“ You & Me” by The Green Room – Heather & I went VIP style to their CD releasing gig at The Backstreet…on a school night! At least for me…Heather was in college. It became my favorite CD that year.

“Country Grammar” by Nelly – Freshman Year of college at Grand Valley driving around with Will & Rob just to get off campus. One of these ventures led to driving to Cornerstone to visit Alisa where we found out real fast that we did NOT know the rules of campus…oops.

Bob Seger’s Greatest Hits “Night Moves” – Summer before senior year helping my boyfriend move into his college dorm. We listened to this CD on the way up there & I remember being so sad that I had to say goodbye.

“Ghetto Cowboy” by Bone Thugs N’ Harmony – 2001, TC & Bryan again…He loved this song up north.

“It’s All Coming Back to Me” by Celine Dion – Katie, Sam, Allison, Jodi & I called this the ‘creatures’ song. It’s weird, I know. I remember sitting in the Russ’ East parking lot in my car, of course, with Katie, Alison and Sam. Katie and I were jammin’ to this song and Katie mentioned something about creatures and then locked all the doors…it was funny. Guess you had to be there.

“ Love of My Life” sung by Michael W. Smith – Israel. Knowing I was falling in love for the first time…for the first time. Distance will do that to a person.

“Indiana” by The Samples – Israel 1999. Riding on the bus & missing home.

“We Danced Anyway” by Deana Carter – Traverse City basketball game 1996. I got my first crush on an older boy on that one night extravaganza.

“Pain” by Dream – First real relationship breakup. The name of the song says it all.

“Bye, Bye” by Jo-Dee Massina – Jen & my theme song the summer after our sophomore year. We even made up motions! We would cruse around in her Jimmy, going nowhere, and listen to this song.

“God Must Have Spent A Little More Time” by N’Sync – Who can listen to this song and not be taken back somewhere?! Seriously!

“All My Life” by KC & Jo Jo – First dance with someone I REALLY liked. Butterflies & the whole nine yards. Although I do recall…I had to ask him….hummm.

“Da’ Dip” by Freak Nasty – Heheheh…I have to laugh about this song because it reminds me of my friend Joel from high school and I have NO idea way. I must have seen him dance to this at a school dance or something & it has always stuck with me…sorry Joel!

Ok, that got a little long...sorry, but it was fun for me. :)
Thanks to everyone who helped make my memories. I can’t wait to remember the ones we are making!

First Friend's First Birthday

Adi's first birthday was this past Wed. We celebrated last Saturday after the parade. It's hard to believe she is one already. Payton & her are exactly 3 months apart. Knowing how fast the past three months have gone I know we will be celebrating Payton's first birthday before I know it. Crazy how fast they grow up.
Ummm...Cake!

Little Dutch Beauty

Call me crazy but I happen to really like Tulip Time. Mainly, I love going downtown and running into people that you might not see everyday. This year was fun obviously because I got to dress Payton up in a little Urk costume. The costume was made by Heather's in-laws for Ava...yes, both of them. It was sown by Lynn & Don embroidered it...how cute is that?!
I also Dutch Dance and love it...you might think I'm a nerd but it is the truth.

Hannah (6 yr), Payton (9 mo), & Ava (3 1/2 yr)

While we were taking pictures a tourist came from the Curragh and said she just 'had' to take their picture.
Our Family

1st Mother's Day

It is crazy to think that just a year ago Mother's Day was not a day I could 'truly' celebrate. I can't even put into words how blessed I feel today to have Payton in my life and how amazing it is to be her mommy. (I know I sound like a broken record but it is SO true that I just have to say it over & over.) I pray that God will bless Bryan & I with more children & someday grandchildren.
My dad said to me today that I forever get to celebrate this day, and every day, as a mom and the joy that brought to my heart was beyond measure!
Payton is the greatest gift God has given me and as I thought about that I couldn't help but think that MY mom feels the same way about me and my siblings. What an awesome feeling to know I am loved so much, and that is just from my mom! God loves me even more than that!!!!!
Thank you mom for everything you do for me and for loving me as much as I love Payton.
Lord, thank you for loving me more then I can ever imagine!!!

Random Pictures of My Baby

How cute is this outfit on her...really, it should be a crime. This is her new favorite way to sit. So fancy.
Look at my crazy hair...mommy doesn't know what to do with it.
She sticks her tongue out like this all the time. I think it is the cutest thing.
Payton and her best buddy Adi. Adi & Payton are exactly 3 mo apart but are basically the exact same size...can you tell who is older?? :)It is extremely hard to keep these two still...we are in trouble.
I love solid foods!

TC, Wine Tasting, Bachelorette Party = Lots of Fun

My best friend Alisa is getting married June 12th so with every wedding comes a bachelorette party.
We headed up to Traverse City in my Dad's people mover...oh yes, I drove...for some wine tasting, great food and good times with friends. Rachel Bates did an amazing job with all the planning. If she wasn't so great at her profession, I would say party planning might be her cup of tea. Once we got up there we enjoyed a nice lunch at North Peak Brewery then made our way to three different winery's where Rachel had some private tasting set up for us. A friend of hers owns and operates Bouwer's Harbor which was every one's favorite. They by far had the best wine & were the most hospitable. A big thanks to Spencer for all he did for us...even letting us taste wines that ha not yet been released. After wine tasting we went back to the hotel and had some beverages and some amazing food from TCfoods.com. I don't know where Rachel heard of them but everything was SO good. After the gifts were all opened we headed downtown.
There were a lot of laughs shared over breakfest on Sunday morning so I think it is saft to say everyone had a great time.
