Official 6 Month Stats

My boy is healthy and growing like a weed.
Weight: 19 lb 14.5 oz
(80th Percentile)
Height: 27 Inches
(75th Percentile)
His doctor just said he is 'growing well'. I think that would be an understatement based on the above numbers but we'll go with that response. :) I looked at Bryan & I's baby books to compare. Unfortunelty Bryan does not have a 6 month weight but at 8 1/2 months he was 22 lbs and 29.5 inches...what I was at a year...and was 18 lb 6 oz & 26 in at 4 months. I was 17 lb 15 oz and 27.5 inches at 6 months. C Bear is right in the middle.

Warm Weather Welcomed

Yesterday was a beautiful spring day here in H-Town and we took full advantage. We love being outside so in the morning when it was still a little chilly we bundled up a bit and headed to the park for the first time this year. P was very excited to get out and slide on the slide and swing on the swings.
(oh yes, she did wear her pretty dress...what can I say)
Later in the day, after a text from Aunt Mary, we went to the Garvelink's driveway for some more outside fun.

Bow-lishes

After making Payton her tutu I decided to try my hand at making hair bows. Bow are so expensive so I thought why not try making my own. It has been a 'teach-yourself' deal with help from the internet. I think they turned out ok. I am still playing around with it and am hoping to branch out a little more.

1/2 Way to a Year

Six Months! REALLY! Six Months! Unreal.

Big Man -
You are getting bigger by the day.
Now almost out of 6 month clothing and into size 3 diapers, I can barely keep up with you. I weighed you the other day...20 pounds!!! WHOW! That is unofficial of course but we will find out for sure next Monday at your doctor's appointment. I believe this would put you between the 75th and 90th percentiles. Like I said, you're getting bigger every day. :) I love it...chubby babies are the best!
The baby food thing has been going really well. You've only had bananas, carrots and green beans but like all three. Mommy has just been lazy about making more that is why there has not been a great variety. I believe you are ready for puffs and crunchy's as well because you constantly are reaching for other people's food when they are about to put it in their month. 8 am, 12 noon, 4 pm and 8 pm are the approximate times for food. Mornings are an 8 oz bottle (formula only these days :), noon is either an 8 oz bottle or a 6 oz bottle with baby food...just depends on what we are doing. 4 o'clock is the same, bottle or a combo of bottle/food, 8 pm is an 8 oz bottle as well.
On Tuesday it was discovered that you have two teeth! Who knew?! Not me. I will not be winning any mother-of-the-year awards that is for sure. Sorry baby. You had been a little fussier then normal and were getting up in the middle of the night but I just chalked it up to another growth spurt. Mimi was the one that found your right bottom tooth all the way through and the left just under the surface. Never would have thought at six months you would have two teeth.
You are scooting all over. When I sit you down and return a few minutes later I find you on your tummy way away from the spot I left you. I give you a week or two before you crawl. We are hoping you hold off until after our family trip to Florida. A crawling baby in the sand does not sound like much fun. But if it happens we will roll with it.
After the tooth discovery you have been sleeping like a big boy again. Thank goodness for medicine to make those toofers not hurt so you can sleep. Bedtime is around 8 o'clock and our morning starts at about 7:30 am. Still at three naps a day, 10 am, 1:30 pm and 6 pm. The first and last are just mini naps about an hour or less. The middle nap is the long one anywhere from 2 hours to 3 1/2.
You are getting to be so much fun. Not that you weren't before! You and Payton interacting together bring a smile to my face. She talks to you all the time and you just smile back. She loves you very much and you love her...I love it!
Love you so much big guy!!
Always & Forever,
Mommy
(Daddy & Payton too)

Tutu Cute

I have been wanting to get Payton another 'pretty dress' for play but have not wanted to buy anything. So when I stumbled across this fun little 'do it yourself' tutu I jumped at the opportunity to make her one.

fashionista

We are in the stage of wanting to dress our self and pick out our own outfits. I know many people who have their little ones dressed to the nines every time they go out even if it is just to grocery shop, I am not one of those people! Sometimes I wish I was one of those people who had a hair bow and shoes to match every outfit because I think it is so adorable. Maybe if I had more money I would or at least I would like to think I would but if I'm honest, it probably wouldn't help. Anyway, back to the point, I will often, not always but often, let Payton wear whatever she picks out...if it is reasonable for the weather of course. I'm not going to let her out in a tank & shorts when it is 20 degrees out...I'm not crazy. My theory is that in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter what she wears to swimming lessons or out getting groceries. She is very confident and I figure it is helping her find her sense of self and feeling like she does have some choices in life. That and it is kind of cute. :)
So if you ever see us out and Payton is dressed a little 'unusual' remember this post and just smile.

She wore this a few weeks ago to swimming lessons. Yes, even with the tiara. This was also worn to swimming lessons. She really wanted to wear her pretty dress from Aunt Heather's wedding, name tag from rehearsal and all
She wore this yesterday. Ever since the wedding the only thing she wants to wear is dresses. The leggings were the first part she picked so I directed her to something that would work with them. Then we had to put on everything that was in the jewelry box. It was a little 'springy' for the weather but that's ok.
And this is what she will be wearing today. What are we doing you ask...going to Amma's house to play with Ava. :)
