Daddy's Lawn Helper

Bryan has been working to make our lawn lovely and was able to get home from work early yesterday to do so. Seeing Daddy working outside and playing with Papa's tractor, Payton just had to get out there and help.

Charley is 8 Months Old.

Charley,
I feel like I just posted a monthly update for you. Time really can't be going this fast can it? Well little man, you are something else. I mean that in a very good way. You are so fun....a tad naughty but fun non the less. I say naughty because your new favorite activities are playing in Chester's water dish and annoying your sister by wanting to play with whatever it is that she has. I have to admit though that she does the same to you so it might be somewhat of a learned behavior. The only difference is that when she gets mad at you, you just laugh...it's a little evil in a very cute way.
Activities: Crawling, crawling, crawling everywhere. Pulling yourself up on everything you can, the couch, chairs, tables, activity table, crib, anything that works.
Play: You play with anything you can get to. Your activity table is a favorite because you can stand up next to it. Balls are still big so are balloons if we have some.
Cloths: It's hard to believe but you are still in a few 9 month things such as pants and shirts but anything that is a one piece is has to be 12 months. Diapers are still size 3 and seem to still be working just great. I hope you stay in them for awhile too because I have a slight stock pile.
Sleeping: You start your day around 7:30 these days but usually don't get out of bed until 8. Going strong with the 3 naps (10 am, 2pm, and 6pm-ish) still which is working well. It gives mommy and Payton time to play with all the toys that can't be out when you are up...aka those with tiny pieces. Bedtime is anywhere between 7:30/8 o'clock. You go to bed great. Most of the time you are really sleepy and fall right to sleep.
Eating: You like to eat...a lot! You start your morning out (usually) with breakfast in bed...aka 8 oz bottle. Then around 9ish you get 'big boy breakfast'...aka some sort of baby food fruit. For lunch you get a baby food veggie along with an 8 oz bottle. Right before your 'big' rest you get another few (6 to 8) ounces to hold you over so you get a good rest for Mommy. Dinner consists of baby food often a 'mixed' baby food such as chicken & rice or something of that sort. Then right before bed you get another 8 oz bottle. So yes, you eat a lot but you are a happy, healthy boy so that is what is important.

We love you very much.
Mommy, Daddy & Payton

Mother's Day 2011

I had a wonderful Mother's Day this year like always. It helped that it was a beautiful day and I could go outside without any sort of a chill in the air. Wonderful, wonderful thing.
Bryan and the kids were great all day. I got to sleep in (well, I didn't have to get up with the kids), we went to church then went to a brunch at Double Tree with my family which was really good. I got a nap in, when we all woke up (I think I was the last one to wake up:) Payton & Charley gave me my gift (which I was really not expecting at all to be honest :)...it was a hot glue gun! Very excited. I am making hair bows for Payton and have been borrowing my parents. Now I have my very own and the best part...cordless! Good job P & C...and Bryan. :) We then went to Bryan's parent's house, hung out there for a while, had dinner then came home, put the kids to bed, then watched the finally of the 'Amazing Race'. It was a really good day.
Thanks to my wonderful husband and beautiful children for making it such a good day.

Best two gifts I have ever been given.
My God is so good!

"Hip-Boom"

Our accommodations for the Tulip Time fireworks were first class. An 85 foot yacht to be exact. Beats Kollen Park with thousands of people and loud music that is for sure.
This was Charley's first official boat ride. Yup, on an 85 foot boat...whose spoiled now? We made sure to tell him it only goes downhill from here but he didn't seem to care. He is going to be a boater based on his reaction to looking out the window at the water going by. Both legs and both arms were just go go going a mile a minute, eyes were as big a saucers and there was high pitched giggling. Yup, he liked it. Didn't even seem to mind the life jacket so much which is a wonderful thing.
Although Charley enjoyed the boat ride he did not get to stay up for the fireworks...he's too little (that is what Payton says:). Adi & Payton, because they are big... :) got to stay up and watch the show. We did have to find things to entertain them while we waited, suckers, pudding, small fireworks people were doing from their homes...they did great but got a tad slap happy. When we asked Payton what sound the fireworks made she said, "HIP-BOOM" which made all of us laugh because she just repeated it and repeated it.
When the fireworks finally began the girls thought they were really cool. Payton talked almost the entire time, telling us all which one was each of our favorite and designating one to everyone on the boat..."That one is yours Mamma", "Uncle Benny likes that one", "Daddy that one is your favorite". She's funny.
Even though it was a late night and a full day we had a good time spending it with our kids and watching them enjoy themselves.

Kinderplaats & Carnavel 2011

Tulip Time is officially here!!! YAY!
Saturday was a full-of-fun-busy-day. We started out the day at Kinderplaats downtown. Last year was simply look at the animals and fire truck and leave but not this year. She played games, got her face painted, did the blow-up bounce house & obstacle course, watched dancers and so much more. We did feed and pet the animals too of course. Adi, Mary & Louis joined us which was great. I am sure Payton tried some of the activities because Adi wanted to so that was good for her.
We went home for lunch and naps then met the Garvelink family at the carnival...yes, I said carnival. :)
One of my favorite things about being a mom is watching my little ones experience simple pleasures in life that they have never experienced before. This was definitely one of those times. She surprised me that is for sure. I thought she would be a little scared of going on the rides but boy was I wrong! Squealed and giggled the whole time and asked to go on almost everything. The one she was dying to go on...the Ferris wheel and she loved it. We were suckered into playing one game but both girls won a little 'nemo' so all was well with the world. :)
Right from there we drove to the Marina where we boarded an 85 foot boat (we know, we are beyond spoiled!) to watch the fireworks.
(See next post for details)

Loved her butterfly

Blow-up obstical caurse

Bubbles
She was really good at this game. First throw she got it in the 'nose', 3rd throw in the 'right eye'. From the spot she is standing...thata girl.

Plinko
This piggy like her.
Charley liked the animals too.
Coasty - the talking tug boat

Loved this ride. Wanted to do it again but decided to 'fish' instead.

I'm happy because I am getting fed.

May 1st Prayer...

Now I lay me down to sleep... one less terrorist this world does keep... with all my heart I give my thanks... to those in uniform regardless of ranks... you serve our country and serve it well... with humble hearts your stories tell... so as I rest my weary eyes... while freedom rings our flag still flies... you give your all, do what you must... with God we live and God we trust.... Amen

*A Friend of mine had this on her FB status this morning...I just had to share!
